Blackboards from France {chalkboard weekend part two}
Vosgesparis 28 Jan 2012, 12:23 am CET
In my previous post {part one}I showed you the pictures Jonna sent me and here are some Nathalie of Nath&Co sent to me. Nathalie is a graphic designer and visual artist. With an eco friendly approach she is re-using materials to give them a new use. She has six blackboards in her home and when people come over they enjoy writing and drawing on them. See more of her boards here and have a look at the boards she designed for her sons room.
The picture below, says Nathalie was an inspiration for her own blackboards... she don't know who's wall it is but funny enough we can find out some things about the person .. She likes to shop online-loves flowers - has an animal called Sid and might even be ready to go to Paris! If this is you let us know ;)

The Books Cafè - The Painted Veil
Home Shabby Home 27 Jan 2012, 9:00 am CET
I have to be honest: I don't have much time for reading
since my little Amedeo is born. So today for my Books Cafè (after 2
months of absence!) I want to talk about a book I've read this
summer:
The Painted Veil by W. Somerset Maugham
Maugham
Kitty is a spoiled, superficial english girl whose
only desire is marrying an important man to live the high
society life. When her younger (and uglyer) sister announce her
marriage, Kitty decides to accept the proposal
of the bacteriologist William Fane (who is madly in
love with her) just because she wants to be married before
her.
sorella.
Soon after the marriage they leave for Hong Kong
where Kitty starts a love affair with the
assistant colonial secretary Charles Townsend. When William
discovers the affair, Kitty is almost happy: now she will have the
divorce and marry Charles. But Charles doesn't want to divorce
from her wife and, in order to avoid a scandal, suggests to
Kitty to accept the other option William gave her. The option
is to follow William to a little Chinese interior
town to deal with a cholera
epidemic, risking death.
Appena dopo sposati, partono per Hong Kong dove
L'opzione è seguire William in
During her stay at the Chinese town, Kitty has a
lot of time to think about what she did, and how
stupid she has been to fall in love with such a superficial and
selfish man as Charles. Moreover she starts to look at William and
she discovers how honest, brave and generous her husband is.
She also will start to help some nuns in the fight to
cholera.
colera.
I don't want to tell you more. This is a
bitter book, but it is also a great book about a woman
who understands her faults and tries to improve herself. I
loved the caustic irony of Maugham. An advice: the last movie based
on this novel is from 2006, but I didn't like it because it is very
far from the novel in my opinion.
And It Lived Happily Ever After In Jos' Kitchen

Maybebag {whats that in your maybebag }
Vosgesparis 26 Jan 2012, 10:59 pm CET
Since being available at MERCI in Paris the Maybebag seems to pop up everywhere..
Maybebags are made of Tyvek, an extremely light hi-tech material
that gives the bags a delicate paper-like appearance. useful in
many scenarios: from the daily commute to shopping and holidays, or
just crumpled up in your main bag, waiting to be used in one of
these - maybe - situations!
On the site they have a small blog called Maybelife... with
pictures from what people carry around in their maybebags. If you
can't go to Paris you can order a maybebag online at their site or
at Orphan Socks with no shipping costs If you are
lucky enough to have one already .... show us what is in your
maybebag !
This weekend I will be showing you lots of blackboards I got
emailed and will have a little blackboard wall marathon
on here... It will also be your last change to enter our
giveaway and win a unique lamp from
Zenza
.... See you tomorrow!
THE IDEA:The idea for Maybebags was triggered by an observation we made on the London Underground: a lot of people have an expensive handbag that holds the daily essentials, but use a secondary, less stylish bags to carry anything from the extra pair of shoes to the gym kit or books and paperwork. We saw an opportunity for a functional yet beautiful everyday bag that is useful in many scenarios: from the daily commute to shopping and holidays, or just crumpled up in your main bag, waiting to be used in one of these “maybe” situations.

Project Day: New Cupboard Lining
Beach Vintage 26 Jan 2012, 9:22 pm CET

Next week we have some very exciting visitors
coming to Beach Vintage so things that have needed doing are
getting done around the place. Including the front doors of the
kitchen pantry. Some of you may recall the previous covers were
patchworks of vintage wallpaper samples. After 2 years they were
looking a little worn out.
Yesterday was time to jazz them up a little with some oilcloth.
I used
this design. Simply cut roughly to size, smear some white craft
glue quite generously all over the front panel of the doors and
smooth down with an oven glove. Leave to dry for a few hours and
trim with a ruler and stanley knife. ( No they are not my hands
but, alas, my husband is now even involved poor bugger).
I also completed
something similar in the bathroom a few years back and it's
still looking great.
Have a great weekend everyone.

The Lab, Copenhagen
emmas designblogg 26 Jan 2012, 5:37 pm CET
What a wonderful photo studio! It's called The
Lab, located in Copenhagen, and I found it through Lotta
Agaton. I believe she has been there shooting something
recently, and I'm very curious to see the results!

When a mom is ill...
Home Shabby Home 26 Jan 2012, 9:00 am CET
...the house collapses!!!!
It's two days I'm KO
because of a flu
and the only thing I can do
is moving myself from the
bed to the sofa.
...la casa
collassa!!!!
Sono due giorni che sono KO
per via dell'influenza e la
sola cosa che riesco a fare
è ciondolare dal letto
al divano.
Comfy clothes, warm plaid,
hot tea...and all around me
the house drifts into
anarchy...
Do you remember
my post A mom has no time?
Well I've discovered that a
mom also has no time (she is not
alloweded)
to get ill!!!
Vestiti comodi, calda copertina,
tè bollente...
...e tutto intorno a me
la casa scivola in una sorta
di anarchia...
Vi ricordate il mio post
Bhè, ho scoperto che
una mamma non ha tempo
nemmeno
(non le è permesso)
di ammalarsi!!!
Anyway I'm feeling a little better
and luckly I haven't
infected Amedeo
nor Sofia.
So I just need some
time...
...and then all the house
will be under Mom's rule
again!!!!
Comunque, mi sento un pochino
meglio
e per fortuna non ho
contagiato Amedeo
nè Sofia.
Quindi ho bisogno solo
di un po' di tempo...
...e poi la casa sarà di
nuovo
sotto il mio
governo!!!!
Kitchens!
Home Shabby Home 25 Jan 2012, 9:00 am CET
The kitchen is the room
I love most in a house and
also the room I spend most
of my time during the day.
La cucina è la stanza
che
più amo della casa e
anche il luogo dove trascorro
più tempo durante la giornata.
That's the style I love:
touches of red on a
pale palette...
...and that's also
the palette I've chosen for
my kitchen!
Questo è lo stile che amo:
tocchi di rosso su una
palette chiara...
...ed è anche lo stile
che ho scelto per la mia
cucina!
Ikea offers a lot of
decorations possibilities
for the kitchen...
...I love Ikea!!
Ikea offre un sacco di
differenti possibilità
di decorazione
per la cucina...
...io amo Ikea!!
And what about the
english country style
with a warm Aga?
I don't have a Aga (sob),
but a wood burning stove
which I adore,
especially during these
freezing days!
E che ne dite dello stile
country inglese con
una
calda Aga?
Io l'Aga non ce l'ho (sob),
ma ho una stufa a legna
che adoro,
specialmente durante
queste giornate di gelo!
Solsken
LOPPISLIV 25 Jan 2012, 8:04 am CET
Godmorgon!
.
...
HA NU EN FIN ONSDAG!!
Vi ses snart igen...
.
PS: TACK för alla rara kommentarer ang vårt badrum.
Jättekul att så många tyckte om det :-))
An industrial look bedroom {IKEA LIVE blog}
Vosgesparis 24 Jan 2012, 12:04 am CET
Totally forgot to mention my last weeks blog for
IKEA LIVE ... where I write about
how the new grey floors also changed the look of my bedroom and
where I also show some previous looks from the last years.
It is really strange to see how my taste of decorating changed
towards the Masterplan) -- Talking about the
masterplan {I promise you this will be the last time} I thought it
was really cool when I met one of my blog readers last week and she
told me that reading my thoughts and ideas about having a
masterplan she thought it was a really good idea to make one for
herself too ;) --
Since the picture above, taken about 2 weeks ago, my room had a
little change again. As I missed the white floors a bit, I bought a
white carpet at the Pol's Potten sale to put next to my bed.
I will try to make some more pictures of the room again soon. For
now you might like to read my blog at IKEA LIVE what the lovely
people at LIVE called An industrial look bedroom

A few photo's from my break over the New Year with my family.
I know they are a little late but just had to share them.
I went to a little town called Sandon River in NSW. Has anyone
heard of it? Not likely. But it's a beauty of a place.

Wasabi Me
Waterproof, you can't be bothered with sufficiently annoying nonsense. So you minimize, arrange neatly categorized implements like a surgeon, cut away seaweed, anything bothersome that might wrap, cling, make your head swim. But sushi happens to be your favorite food, one you can't live a single day without.

White elegance
Little Emma English Home 22 Jan 2012, 12:07 am CET
Perchè non si possono avere più case?
Io con la mia ricomincerei tutto daccapo
soprattutto dopo aver visto case come
Indiscutibile
Why can't we have more than one house?
I would start all over again with mine
especially after images like these

Nu ska ni få se....
LOPPISLIV 21 Jan 2012, 6:15 pm CET
.
FIN LÖRDAG KVÄLL!!
.

Vosgesparis 21 Jan 2012, 1:02 am CET
Over the last few months I have been talking and sharing bits and pieces off my kitchen makeover.. from the old and small kitchen, a bedroom and a part of the hallway I made a bright and large kitchen. Now that it is finished, I finally made some real pictures and I am really happy to being able to share them with you over at Emma's Designblogg. Her blog was one of the first Scandinavian blogs I started following years ago and I still don't miss a single update. And maybe even more important, through the years she showed being a great person and blog friend as well, Thank you Emma xxx
